Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center

Industry
Tribal Government, Cultural Institution, Museums & Education

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center is the world’s largest tribally owned and operated museum of its kind, a 308,000 square foot, Smithsonian affiliated institution that brings more than 18,000 years of Native and natural history to life. From a life-size recreation of a 16th century Pequot village to its extensive research archives, the Museum stands as one of the most significant cultural institutions dedicated to Native American history and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s story specifically.

Getfused partnered with the Museum to modernize its technical foundation and lead a full creative redesign of its website, giving the institution a digital presence built to match the scale and depth of its collection.

The Challenge

The existing site ran on an aging technical foundation that made day to day content management difficult and limited how the Museum could present its collection online. Beyond the technical rebuild, the site needed to feel like the Museum itself: immersive, rich, and true to the experience of walking through its galleries in person.

From here, Getfused continued its partnership with the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center to build the solution.

How We Approached It

Think. Create. Activate.

Think

A Foundation Built to Support the Collection

Getfused began by migrating the Museum’s site onto a stable, secure WordPress platform with ongoing managed hosting and support. This gave the Museum a far easier day to day content experience and set the stage for a full creative redesign built on solid technical ground.

What This Unlocks

A platform that finally keeps pace with the collection it represents. Fewer technical constraints. A stable foundation for everything that follows.

Create

A Visual Experience Rooted in the Museum Itself

Getfused focused the redesign on visual impact, incorporating the Museum’s own artwork thoughtfully throughout the site for authentic representation. The Museum’s photography was used with the same intention, creating a rich, immersive experience built to mirror the atmosphere of the galleries themselves.

What This Unlocks

A site that feels like an extension of the Museum, not a separate destination. Visual storytelling grounded in the Museum’s real collection and imagery.

Activate

A Digital Presence That Draws Visitors In

The result is a website designed to do more than inform. Its immersive visual experience is built to inspire online visitors to become in-person ones, supporting the Museum’s mission of sharing Mashantucket Pequot history and culture with a wider audience.

What This Unlocks

A digital presence that turns curiosity into visits. A platform built to grow as new content and exhibits are added.
