News - Dedham Square Circle Launches New Website

September 17, 2009 -

Dedham - The Dedham Square Circle has announced that it has launched a newly redesigned website which focuses more on Dedham Square with current news, events and happenings.   The new site features a calendar of Dedham Square events and activities, a business directory, profiles of Square merchants, information on its weekly farmers market, as well as parking information and other areas of interest around Dedham for those visiting from out of town.   The site is located at www.dedhamsquarecircle.org.

According to Amy Haelsen, Dedham Square Circle Executive Director, the decision to focus more on the Square is in line with the organization’s continued efforts to market the Square both locally and regionally. “One of our major goals has always been to make Dedham Square a destination,” said Haelsen.  “Whether you reside in Dedham and want to find out what’s going on in the Square or you live elsewhere and are planning a visit, the new Dedham Square Circle website will provide you with all you need to know.”    Haelsen added that with the opening of Legacy Place, there are thousands of new people coming to Dedham each week. “Our goal is to also attract these visitors to Dedham Square,” she said.   Advertisements focusing on the Square are now being shown at the new Cinema DeLuxe at Legacy Place as well as in a kiosk located within the shopping center.

Haelsen added that the new website also features more in-depth information on the Dedham Square Circle, its accomplishments, goals, and initiatives, and easy-to-find information on how to get involved, and become a Square Circle member.  “I think people will find that the site is easy to navigate as well asvisually interesting and fun,” said Haelsen. “Its bold colors and photographs reflect the vibrancy and uniqueness of the Square.”

The site was developed by Getfused, a firm based in Norwood that specializes in creating websites, intranets and web-based applications. Specifically, the Dedham Square Circle website was built on their content management platform which provides the organization with the management capabilities needed to independently and easily make updates to the site. Dedham Square circle can keep the site fresh and compelling by making updates at will.

Getfused’s principal, Steve Mammone, a Dedham resident, was heavily involved in the site redevelopment.  “The Dedham Square Circle presented a unique challenge as they wanted to shift the primary focus from the efforts of the organization and feature the Square as a destination.   This required a true understanding of the many varied audience segments that visit the site to provide a truly usable experience for all.  We were also able to work with the Square Circle to provide a scalable solution that has allowed them to define goals and objectives previously unattainable via the web,” said Mammone. “As a resident of Dedham, I also have a vested interest in wanting to see the Square continue to prosper,” he said. “We hope their new site will assist them with their revitalization efforts.”

The Dedham Square Circle is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization committed to invigorating Dedham Square by increasing its economic prosperity, promoting its rich history, arts and culture, and aesthetically enhancing the Square's physical environment to benefit the entire community. To learn more about its work to improve Dedham Square visit www.dedhamsquarecircle.org.
