June 01, 2006 - Norwood company allows town to customize their Web presence

DEDHAM—Dedham residents can get real-time election results, see satellite images of their neighborhood and follow road construction projects , all thanks to a Web site overhaul by Norwood-based Getfused, Inc.
Getfused is a leading area provider of business-class IT and Web application development services based in downtown Norwood. The Dedham site, www.town.dedham.ma.us , runs using Getfused CMS, and allows town department heads to control content and better communicate with residents.

“Getfused CMS is built to give the town the power to customize its site,” said Getfused President Spencer Collier. “We aim to provide the tools so that the possibilities are endless.”

Town Administrator William Keegan said the town looked at a number of IT companies before choosing Getfused because the company offered a greater degree of flexibility to the town.

“Getfused showed us that we can invest in technology not just to upgrade the Web site now, but also to continue to improve and offer more to residents in the future,” said Keegan.

The new Web site also allows residents to pay bills online, view open job opportunities, and look up their assigned polling place.

When Paul Park was recently closed to clean up tar found on the fields, assistant pars and recreation Director Bob Stanley used the new Web features to email clean-up updates to interested residents in the area. The site’s RSS feed feature allows any resident to sign up to be notified when pages are updated.

The new site also allowed Stanley to send text messages when town sports were delayed or cancelled due to weather.

“It’s really convenient for parents, so they’re not making phone calls or show up to the field when a game has been cancelled,” Stanley said. “We’re excited to make things easier for all Dedham residents.”
